About

Santalan is a commercial online gallery that supports social projects from the proceeds of its sales. Santalan brings creators and lovers of contemporary art together. Colour and cheer are the focus. We help spread the joy.

How the online gallery works

Artworks on offer
Works of art (pictures, sculptures, photographs) by established and emerging artists from Switzerland and elsewhere are welcome in the online gallery. To be included in the gallery, the works must be available in Switzerland and will be accepted by Santalan on a commission basis.

Selling/promoting
The artists or owners of the artworks authorise Santalan to exhibit the artwork in the online gallery on a commission basis; the conditions (fixed price, duration, etc.) will be agreed in advance in writing.
The artists or owners play an active role in promoting the website so that as many sales as possible are generated. The more pieces are sold, the greater the proceeds for the social projects.

Buying
Interested buyers should contact us by email to make a reservation or direct purchase, or to arrange a viewing appointment. The purchase price is to be paid in advance or directly in cash. Transport and insurance will be invoiced separately on the basis of the actual costs incurred; the buyer is in charge of the organisation for bigger oeuvres.

Price; commission
30% (or more, if desired) of the fixed selling price (excl. shipping) will be donated to particular social institutions; 60% go to the artist resp to the seller, 10% is used to cover Santalan's administration costs. The remaining amount goes to the seller. The buyers choose which social project they want the donation to go to.

Social and integrative projects

Doing Good through Art. The aim is to offer financial support to the following projects, to provide them with a sound basis on which to grow further.

  • Kinderprojekt Barca
When a family member has mental health problems, the whole family is inevitably affected. The focus lies on the person who is ill, while the children often get forgotten. However, they too struggle to understand what is happening.
The support they receive from Kinderprojekt Barca gives these children the space they need to process their confusing experiences with the help of empathetic professionals and to strengthen their resilience.

  • Winterhilfe Zug/Zürich
Winterhilfe alleviates the effects of poverty in the cantons of Zug and Zurich by taking the strain off tight household budgets and providing targeted assistance in emergencies. We can't just look the other way, and are proud to support this important charity.

  • Rice for Myanmar
"This moment, right now, is beautiful," a monk in Yangon explained to the initiator of the 'Rice for Myanmar' project, Cristina Szemere Enderlin (Yangon/Biel), as motivation for her worthwhile commitment to alleviating hunger in the land of a thousand pagodas. The rice project has been under way since the military coup and is now taking on an additional sustainable aspect. Residents of various regions receive guidance from local instructors on how to enrich their diet by planting their own vegetables. The majority of the rice projects are funded by generous donations from Switzerland. Santalan wants to be part of that.
